Did you know NYC has one of the lowest eviction rates in the country? But the current system leads to a high number of eviction filings, because all nonpayment disputes are funneled into the courts. An eviction diversion program could reduce displacement.

There's a lot to like about New York. We have some of the best schools in the world, and NYC is still a thriving economic center.

But if we can't reduce the cost of living, the city will never grow. It's that simple. And the easiest way to reduce the cost of living is changing housing policy.

California’s rent control system is more transparent than New York’s, allowing landlords to communicate government-imposed cost increases (like property taxes or water rates) directly to renters. In contrast, New York’s system hides these costs, and the NYC RGB often ignores these factors. Watch:
