1/5 Yesterday, Zoey had a new vet that specializes more in dental check her out. Turns out she has pretty severe malocclusion that is likely chronic and has been causing her pain in her mouth and TMJ for years. It’s bad enough they couldn’t correct it all without shortening her teeth too much-

The top photo shows teeth with sharp points, and the inside of the bottom teeth towards the tongue is significantly higher than the outside towards the cheek. This imbalance is causing the malocclusion. In the after photo you can see the higher side is now lower and much closer in height to the lower side. The teeth also are rounded so no more sharp edges

We also had a pretty big crowd at the march through downtown Saint Paul! It’s always so beautiful to see so many people coming together. I almost cry every time I get to these rallies and marches, because it is just so impactful to see how many people in my community care and are fighting!

This is Zoeys low front foot. The angle change in a little over 6 weeks is actually insane? She’s also finally landing heel first barefoot now. Hoof improvements are so fun to see

Can we talk about how much better she looks compared to a couple years ago? I beat myself up over her neck not being ideal right now but it was completely non existent before!
Comparison pictures of the left side of a bay mare, on the top she was completely sun bleached, her neck was super long and thin with a complete ewe neck, on the bottom she is dark bay and shiny, no sun bleach, neck much more filled out. The bottom picture she also has KT tape over her SI.

Bought my horse a new bridle this Black Friday. Even if she only ends up being sound enough for trails, at least we’ll be stylish I guess? Been waiting for them to make a bridle like this for years and I could not pass up this deal

Zoeys getting really good at standing on the surefoot pads for longer periods of time. It makes her look so bum high though😂

I would like to introduce my OTTB Zoey to the people of Bluesky in case you didn’t follow me on twitter. She is 9yo and only raced 4 times before retiring from the track. She has been hind end lame for a quite awhile, recently went to the U of M for a lot of diagnostic imaging with still no answers.
