So thankful for writer Joyce Yen(顏擇雅)'s endorsement of 科技造浪者, the traditional Chinese version of my Island Tinkerers! I haven't been able to see the physical copy of the book, but it's on Google Play's Books (tinyurl.com/te45du8h)! Link to Yen's short book review: www.facebook.com/share/p/14fR...

At Macalester College yesterday, I received great questions about my book: the role of tinkerers in relation to the government, the relationship between geopolitics and tinkering activities, with regard to TSMC, and the rise and fall of the Orientalist representations of Taiwanese computer makers.

I look forward to the "Rewriting the East Asian History of Science" workshop in Seoul!

The two papers I will comment on are Yongjoo Han's paper on technological innovations of Final Fantasy VII & Chih-Heng Su's paper on B&W (TV) as an authoritarian color. Other papers are just fascinating, too!

Last night, Taiwanese publisher Commonwealth published TSMC founder Morris Chang’s autobiography vol. 2! I bought the E-book right away. When I was writing the chapter 10 about TSMC of my forthcoming book, I used his autobiography vol. 1, published 26 years ago in hard copy. shorturl.at/ZhJrJ /1
