Sheep are not all equipped to handle seeing a congenial two-headed, eight-legged dog come out of the darkness, even if they know the dogs individually. They will run. The dogs will decide something is chasing the sheep and trot dutifully after them. It is a terrible cycle.

I dag fikk jeg fineste bekreftelsen på at jeg gjør riktige greier i oppdragelsen: Fortalte barna (8 og 11) at en nær slektning er trans, og de ble skikkelig glade for ham og la umiddelbart plan sammen for hvordan huske på å ikke dødnavne og å bruke riktig pronomen❤️

I hate this type of statement. I’m always uncomfortable to varying degrees, why would I want to add to it.
A couple weeks ago a well meaning colleague of mine told me "If you don't put yourself in uncomfortable situations you'll never learn" and I have been seething in autistic ever since.
What this means, I gather, is something like "take advantage of chosen, purposeful, supported challenges"

Cats will create routines (particularly food ones) from one data point, two if you’re lucky.
Husband had to get up at an ungodly hour this morning and said he would feed the cat. He thought he was being nice and saving me a job so was surprised by my horrified "No don't do that!". We would have been condemned to 5.20am cat feeding FOREVER. Precedent, thy name is cat.

The fear of someone's life being made moderately easier by accident has prevented us from making a lot of peoples lives livable on purpose.
Balancing "no person with a disability should be denied accommodations" with "it's important to discourage non-disabled people from pretending to be disabled to take advantage of these accommodations" is really difficult and I don't have a great answer for what anyone should do about it.

I don't know if anyone else gets anxious about phone calls but a little tip I've learned is: if there is a phone call that I don't want to make, before I start dialing the number, I carefully hold the phone in my hand & toss it gently into a lake. I hope this advice helps others.
