We know this because we lived this with Trump for the last eight years. Keeping focus is difficult. We're going to need to get better at this.

Morning, friends. It's becoming clearer by the day: Trump plans to destroy governmental institutions by appointing unqualified, incompetent, dangerous agency heads. Hey Senate, YOU have a DUTY to protect the American people. Don't check your spines at the chamber doors. Don't feed the dictator!

New in PN: Trump moves to burn down the rule of law

"Gaetz is basically Trump writ small, a petty little tyrant who came to prominence thanks to Daddy’s money, a misogynist who sees women as objects for the taking, and an unqualified troll who has bullied his way to the top."

When I filed to run for Lexington’s 4th District seat against a conservative incumbent, I knew it would be an uphill battle.

But I could see a feasible path to victory.

We ended up flipping the seat.

Here are some things that I think our campaign did well (and also not so well).

We’re all hurting. I don’t have all the answers.

But I know that things won’t be this bleak forever.

I ran against a MAGA incumbent in a “safe red” district in KY as a progressive, openly queer, 28-year-old trans woman.

And I won.

Please, don’t let your heartbreak turn into apathy or cynicism 💙

My folks were born 1905 & 1913. They lived through it all: depression, fireside chats,New Deal & WWI(Dad‘re-upped’)
They wrote to each other every day during the war( saved all their postmarked letter abt 1000)-amazing window into the times & the impact of his economic efforts

"We have always known that heedless self-interest was bad morals; we know now that it is bad economics."
-FDR 2nd inaugural address
The New Deal actually offers a model here. Its architects saw democracy and prosperity as intricately intertwined and, moreover, knew they had to *promote* the idea that they were connected.
