I was lucky enough to see her in 2019. It's not only her scientific insights that were so impressive; it's the way she kept broadening her perspective over the course of her life.

This is an amazing learning project :). Also, I agree that if you're looking for a super fast and fun (and safe) language to learn, Rust has you covered! BFX is leading, I think, in Rust adoption in science; let's keep it that way!
I started tgv to learn Rust and building it has been unbelievably fun! If you wanna pick up a super fast and fun programming language, tgv is open for contribution! There aren't many bioinformatics tools built entirely by the community. If tgv can become one, I'll be so psyched

what booker is doing right now is an example of what i mean when i say things like “we need more ambition right now.” there is room in american politics right now for people with ambition to take big stands and reap the rewards. he’s doing it!

Absolutely not.

I will not allow my community to be jettisoned to save yourself. Yes, if you don't, other groups may suffer, and you might too.

But we are all in this together.

Okay, I cannot recommend 5calls.org enough. Enter your address and it will find all your reps (federal and state). AND give you a list of issues to call about AND which reps to call about each of them AND a little script for each, in case it's helpful. They have an app, too.

Everyone who makes a decision about what actions to take on campus right now is personally responsible for not complying in advance and we need to all remember that.

Most of these orders are illegal, unethical, and unconstitutional. Our democracy only works if we don't follow orders like that.

Side note: This whole event is really highlighting to me the surprisingly large power of individual choices amongst this chaos. This wasn't a top down decision, this was a few people acting on limited information. But at first glance it has the effect of (1/n)

tomorrow's phone calls: the Democrats need to have a plan. For better or worse, they are now an opposition party.

It is clear the Trump is not governing in good faith and they need to throw sand in the gears of any future legislation/nominations/executive orders to limit, if not prevent, harm.
I just contacted my representatives about the nomination of RFK, Jr and the recent executive orders. Here is what I wrote in my email or said to the staffer on the phone:
