While in a directionless fugue state attempting to channel Karl while writing ideas for Star Trek, I began to contemplate an alternate Human-Vulcan First Contact that happens closer to the limited description we got in TOS's "Metamorphosis", and pondering Lily Sloane being played by Eartha Kitt.

There's a right way and a lot of wrong ways to do this trope. I highly recommend comparing the Introduction of Doc Ido and Alita (or Gally, depending on your localization) in the Manga Battle Angel Alita (original title: GUNNM) to how the trope is most often used. It's brief, but to the point.

Still genuinely confused by the general derision towards the ST:TOS episode Spock's Brain.
It contains a surprisingly grounded notion of brain-machine interface, the deleterious effect of relying too heavily on computers & AI to impart knowledge, instead of obtaining skills or knowledge by practice.

They don't want "moral" people. They want a slave class who is not allowed to experience freedom, even with regards to basic human biology, and to inflict physical and psychological harm onto that class.

And this isn't just a problem with artists on the internet. "Professionals" will also routinely do this, and they should be held to account.
Sometimes it's forgetfulness. Sometimes people genuinely don't know the source. But a lot of the time it's just inconsiderate or outright dismissive.
