This big boy escaped a transport truck as a piglet, saving himself from the fate of slaughter. With a larger than life personality, Waffy has gotten to grow up knowing only love and friendship, and he charms every human he meets.

Just two short years ago, Lodi was recovering from aspiration pneumonia and spending her piglet days in an oxygen chamber. We’re so glad she made a full recovery, and is healthy and thriving now.

Today was brutal, with high winds and low temps, and light snow blowing about. But Steve and all of the pigs are staying toasty warm!
Straw is the best material for pigs’ bedding, as it retains their body heat and not much moisture. And they love making nests in it!

Meet our “main pen,” home to 17 different piggies, all rescued! Many of these pigs have lived at our sanctuary for 8+ years, enjoying the best care we can provide. It’s a snowy day but the pigs don’t mind coming outside for meals, water and potty breaks.

HHF is home to a handful of rescued cats as well as pigs, donkeys, a sheep and a goat. Living rurally, we constantly find feral cats on the property and trap them for TNR as much as we can. Mango, Gomez, and Morticia are all ferals we saved who live the cushy life in the house.

Of all the pigs living at HHF, Falstaff is one of a few who truly enjoys romping around in the snow. He even takes naps in it! This handsome boy is a Hungarian breed called a Mangalica & has a wooly coat that resembles a sheep.
