Prof of Rhet/Comp at Sac State. Sci fi enthusiast. Admittedly invested in a system I know to be corrupt and unjust, but working to change that system. I have a family and a dog that keep me busy.
Celebrated my promotion to full professor last night!

This is so heartbreaking and makes nothing better and no one safer. It is the punitive act of an administration that values fealty over human health.
A top scientist at Harvard who has spent years unraveling the mysteries of tuberculosis woke up Tuesday morning and discovered an order from the federal government telling her to halt her research.

You got to tell me brave captain,
Why are the wicked so strong,
How do the angels get to sleep,
When the devil leaves the porchlight on.

Great dystopian science fiction leaves the events that precipitated their dystopias off the page. But this video makes me think we might be living through the events that led to Snow Crash, Neuromancer, 1984, The Handmaid's Tale, Brave New World, Ubik, and The Windup Girl

I'm on a research project that helps students understand how human-AI hybrid processes can support writing development.

Meanwhile, the US is letting AI impose tariffs without a human in the loop.

Bright side: Support for my argument
Down Side: Economic madness

Trump Tariffs Show Signs of Being Written by AI
There seem to be signs that president Donald Trump's befuddling tariff measures were cooked up by an AI chatbot.

I cannot re-recommend this enough.
My key takeaway so far is that conspiracy theory is alluring because "it feels like critical thinking." So succinct
The number of good points per minute in this video is extremely high, which is wild because it is 2 hours and 40 minutes long.

When I was in my twenties, I got some advice along the lines of, 'Make sure to take time to appreciate the occasional sunrise. It's worth the effort.'

Sunrises remain just as inspirational today, but I would appreciate having time to occasionally miss a sunrise or two.

Everybody should take a moment to listen to Roberta Flack and Donny Hathaway's version of You've Got a Friend. Think about what you can do to support the people you care about and remember Roberta fondly

Started keeping a dog walking journal. Just a pic and a brief description of the weather, any wildlife, and what kind of training we worked on.

It's tremendously boring and I would never ask anyone to read it.

Being accountable to no one but myself has been incredibly good for my mental health
