Edward Wang ’12 is the principal investigator for a research project that uses a smartphone's to take blood pressure readings. This project earned Wang & his team the Don Norman Design Special Recognition Award, which honors projects that significantly enhance people’s lives. uqr.to/wang-bpr.

HMC CS prof Lucas Bang is helping students gain access to learning & networking opportunities in the computer programming languages field. Bang received a three-year NSF grant to fund as many as 10 students per year to attend international workshops in programming languages. uqr.to/bang-nsf.

Last summer, the Innovation Accelerator Lab for Emerging Health Tech (IALEHT) placed students in biotech internships with companies run by alumni. By providing hands-on research experiences, the IALEHT prepares students to lead in areas like medical tech, digital health & health AI. uqr.to/ial-eht.

Karen Morrison ’08 was confirmed as the next director of the Dept. of Pesticide Regulation by the CA Senate. HMC chemistry professor Maduka Ogba's proposal, “Unlocking the Potential of #Carbones as Metal-Free Catalysts" has earned a LEAPS-MS grant from the NSF. Ogba’s project will provide research training to six students in #ComputationalCatalysis, #cheminformatics and #MachineLearning. uqr.to/ogba-nsf.
