This says a lot:

“KB said that Michaela actively chooses to cut time in other areas so that they can focus on English and Maths; not because they dislike other subjects, but they see English and Maths as being more important”
Exclusive: The DfE's official account of a meeting between
@bphillipsonmp.bsky.social and Katharine Birbalsingh claims the ed sec had to ask the head to 'lower her tone' and 'allow her to finish her sentences'

P8 has never driven what we do at our school. We are mindful of it, but our focus is entirely on young people and what is right for them! An ambitious curriculum sets young people up with the right knowledge, skills and experience to succeed and thrive beyond school!
🎱 'P8 is unfair to many hard-working schools, lets questionable performance go unchallenged, and hampers efforts to get under the bonnet of school improvement'

Progress 8 is a deeply flawed way to hold schools to account
Any reform of school accountability must include changing a headline measure that acts as a perverse incentive

Brilliant news! We created a SEND resource base in our school in September and it’s been wonderful. Wonderful to see those young people thriving in a mainstream setting but also seeing the empathy and understanding being drawn out from others! #SEND #Inclusion #CantellandProud #CantellFamily
