"Probably" delayed?

Their new mantra is 6 sets per year. 2026 has 7. If they delayed to 2027 there would only be 6 sets, not 7.

Look, don't take this the wrong way here, but you're engaging in some pretty high-level mental gymnastics trying to absolve WotC.

Because Lowyn Eclipsed was delayed. It wasn't supposed to be a 2026 release.

2026 Sets, original lineup:

TMNT
Secrets of Strixhaven
Marvel Superheroes
The Hobbit
Reality Fracture
Star Trek

Lorwyn Eclipsed was originally slated for 2025.

And, yes, I'm royally cheesed off that the original plan for 2026 was 4 UB sets and 2 Magic sets.

That alone should have us readying the torches and pitchforks.
October 17, 2025 at 6:32 PM
That also makes it unreliable.

He should now preface anything he says with "Right now, we think..."

But no. He said, "UB won't be part of standard."

So a lot of people bought UB and gave them grace because of that statement. Then, once they entrenched it, they shifted.
October 17, 2025 at 6:30 PM
Uhuh - Again, nothing he says can be taken at face value.

It's true until it isn't.
October 17, 2025 at 6:23 PM
Pretty much. The conversation was about how WotC says Standard is better than it's ever been when every bit of evidence I've seen says otherwise.
October 17, 2025 at 6:20 PM
I should clarify, Standard. That was my folly. As the conversation with Blake was talking about the claims that Standard is thriving.
October 17, 2025 at 6:00 PM
You didn't come off attacking. Have no worries there. I saw this as a cordial conversation between two players in the same area discussing points of reference.

Size-wise almost rivaling Level-Up. Due to 60-card crashing, they've snapped up tons of Warhammer players and are now hosting major regional tournaments.

Place is gigantic.
October 17, 2025 at 5:57 PM
To note on Challenges:

Tony's shop had a literally thriving 60-card scene with weekly tournaments firing. I was judging at them fequently. Right up until Final Fantasy. Vivi killed it, hard.

You may not be familiar with their current location in Tucker. It is most definitely not small. It's-

(I was in there liquidating some of my collection and grabbing a pair of fetches.)
October 17, 2025 at 5:48 PM
Wasteland canceled their 60's. Confirmed it literally yesterday.
October 17, 2025 at 5:46 PM
For the last 5 years I'm really, really, shocked you haven't seen me at least once.
October 17, 2025 at 5:31 PM
I did have to limit my attendance in 2024 and early 2025 due to fighting cancer at the time (I'm clear now, thankfully) - In 2022-2023 I was a Pioneer staple at Supergames, where I did all the Pioneer events on Wednesdays and did all of the prerelease events.

If you've been around-

Edit: That should be Southeast Atlanta, not Southwest.

Usually sporting sn epic beard. Cane. Sometimes a wheelchair.

Often using a Championship playmat or a Hatsune Miku one. Known for playing a million variants on humans, especially during the 22-23 Pioneer golden age.

Was a Commander 5k that I had little interest in.

My radius tends to be southwest Atlanta. Due to my injuries, I can't travel as far as I used to. I used to frequent shops as far as North Carolina on a monthly basis.

I'm really shocked that you haven't seen me. 5'8" kinda pudgy, -

Supergames, I admit, has been a while. It's a bit far for me.

Meeple Madness and Giga both show Standard events, but I can't get to them often. The last time I went to Meeple, the event had 4 people.

For bigger events, I was going to Charlie's Collectibles, but the last big one -
October 17, 2025 at 5:19 PM
Level-Up has a scheduled Standard event every Friday, but the last 4 times I've been there it hasn't had the numbers to fire.

Challenges and Wasteland stopped their Standard events (Challenges is my "home" store) with Wasteland explicitly stating it was because players couldn't keep up with whales.
October 17, 2025 at 5:16 PM
My primaries are Challenges (Tucker), Supergames (Milton - Though it's been a while, since I moved), the Wasteland (Deluth), Level-Up (Deluth), Infinite Realities (Tucker - Though that one is new-ish), I also frequent events at Battle and Brew, and occasionally at Atlanta TCG. -

Increases the likelihood of the new "broken" card coming into being.

In a format where WotC allows obviously problematic cards to sit in format for 6-9 months, you need to be able to build a new deck every set in a highly competitive environment if a Vivi, Amalia, Nadu, or Sorin arises.
October 17, 2025 at 5:06 PM
That disheartened our regulars to the point that the rest of the events in the tournament couldn't make minimum numbers.

Why? Because those three players were very affluent and could afford scalper prices to build their decks when others could not.

Flooding the market with new sets every 6 weeks-
October 17, 2025 at 5:03 PM
So much for Wizards being unwilling to disrupt the meta during an RC cycle, huh?

But here's the thing.

The wealthy players that WotC is now catering to? They can afford to do that.

We saw it when I tried to run a tournament series (see earlier posts) because the three players -

That one card, the Amalia/Wildgrowth Walker deck, completely shut my deck off. It was one of the most played decks.

The deck was expensive. I couldn't afford to build a new tier 1 deck in the few weeks I had of warning of Amalia. I went from having a good chance to having no chance instantly.
