Two weeks ago I made this oilpainting during a 6 hour session with good friends.
I tried to be precise and loose at the same time and I enjoyed it a lot. this time!

A new painting for my animated film, which will be an apocalyptic nightmare about war.
I started working on the film 8 years ago, but had to pause for a while, because of the big projects that I directed for Amazon and Netflix.
In the meantime the nightmare got a bit closer.

This was one of the most complex images I ever painted. The uniformity of the military tombstones in perspective with all those curves and all. I created a 5-point perspective layout and that haunted me all through the making of this painting. Damn...

Last week I was in Budapest to give a masterclass in Urania , one of the most beautiful cinema halls I've ever seen, at the ANILOGUE - International Animation Festival 2024.
I was also a member of the Featurefilm jury. We gave the award to Flow by Gints Zilbalodis.

I made an oilpainted copy of one of David's famous Napoleon paintings, and replaced Napoleon's head with that of Anthony van Dyck, one of my favourite painters
Why? To sharpen my skills. Also, I got paid for it quite okay.
