BUT if you're into fibre arts you can use them to dye wool and silk and they make the most gorgeous colours! This is wool a friend of mine dyed with lobster 'skins'

By the time it's fully parasitised the mushroom it's almost impossible to ID the host. Luckily it grows on hosts that are all technically edible if not sometimes unpalatable because they're bitter or burny.

We don't get lobster here in South Africa but my US friends say they're worth foraging.

It not even a mold... it's a cup fungus... so we get 2 fungi for the price of one. And lobsters can be used to make dye with too.

Im on Lobster server too! And I'm a mushroom nerd so I can tell you that we get 2 mushrooms for the price of one. Lobster mushrooms form when one type of mushroom parasitises another type of mushroom. And they're edible and they can be used to make dye with.
