the fact that amtrak cascades hit another ridership record in FY25 despite shutting down for two weeks and spending half the year running smaller trains with higher prices bc of the horizon recall is another sign that the demand for rail in the pnw is genuinely insatiable

I think it’s honestly disgusting and deeply unserious that the Revoke the Permit people have clipped videos of my women colleagues eating pizza at the dais as some kind of shaming tool, which is now being used by right-wing media to harass them in misogynistic ways. Congrats everyone.

i made donations to my local food banks today. please do the same, if you are able. federal funding for SNAP runs out in less than a week, and adults and children alike will starve if we don't step up to help.

This video from Portland is a metaphor for what is going on in America. ICE trying so hard to get Americans to cross a line and if they don't, dragging them across the line and violently attacking.

Thank you to everyone who has reached out with concern. Late last night, I woke up to my car, car port, and home engulfed in flames. I'm grateful for the quick response from Portland firefighters who prevented the fire from spreading even further.

Blue cities should tear up the roads in front of ICE facilities and then start decades of community engagement and input sessions to rebuild them. Let's harness our core competencies.

Continued escalation from Trump this morning. I need to hear a forceful response to this from Gov. Kotek, assuring Oregonians we will not tolerate this level of illegal intimidation. To service-members: remember you do not have to follow an unlawful order such as implied below.
Trump says he authorizes Hegseth to deploy the military to Portland, which he lyingly calls "war ravaged," and says he is authorizing "full force."

what ferritor needed was moral education — and the limits and boundaries that come with it. he needed to learn that he had obligations beyond his own interests & personal advancement. he needed to learn that he had duties to other people. his parents fostered his brilliance at the expense of a soul.

Fascism is undoubtedly the purpose of the ICE budget, because ICE is already struggling to meet its kidnapping quotas with anything immigration-related. They're already deep into people with no criminal record, people at immigration hearings, veterans, children with cancer, and naturalized citizens.
Harvard sociologist/polisci Theda Skocpol explains how the vast expansion of ICE in BBB may be Trump's secret weapon to overcome the barriers of federalism and complete his autocratic takeover of the American state. (History from Germany & Hungary in 20s/30s.) talkingpointsmemo.com/edblog/criti...
