I think I found a bunch of scraps of solid walnut planks. I wasn’t sure about how it would carve at first but if I watch the grain I can get some great marks #printmaking #woodblock #woodcut #clouds

Process pics of my most recent block. I don’t usually do it this way, but I wanted to get a better idea of what color blocks I would use so I painted the entire image with watercolors before carving. #woodblock #woodcut #printmaking #art #artprocess

The up side of having to spend all weekend organizing the garage is realizing you’ve been sitting on perfect wood for making frames this whole time. I can’t wait to have my own shadow frames so I stop having to glue foam core strips to space the mat away from the glass. #art #framing #nicheaf

Sometimes I buy frames from the thrift store for my little skulls (complete with the tiniest mat I have ever cut)

From the archives because I’m teaching watercolor this week and it’s consuming all of my energy. The kids keep asking when we’re going to use “real paint” 🙃 #printmaking #artteacher

I forgot I had started this block, I guess there’s no better time like right now to keep working on it.

I love my flexcut, in particular I prefer the small v gouge. I’ve opted to wrap the parts of the shaft that put pressure on with tape so it doesn’t dig into my fingertips. And I wrapped washi tape over the handle so it’s easy for me to see which one I’m grabbing.

I feel like it’s time to dig this woodblock back out. I started this a couple years ago and have changed it and mulled over on and off. We’ll see where it ends up going. #printmaking #blockprinting #woodcut #printsky #appalachia #redneck #solidarity #resistance

I did it! The IG Exodus is complete for me. Any time I submit work to things IG is always asked for, so instead of deleting my account I just scrubbed my profile. It didn’t take nearly as long as I thought it would. #instagram #IGexodus

In honor of the Lunar New year and entering the year of the snake, here is a snake altar cloth printed with a lino block I did last year. I think since it’s the year of the wood snake it’s only fitting that I start a snake woodblock soon. #lino #printmaking #woodcut #art #yearofthesnake

realized after I already started carving that I wanted to ink this and add a skull. I like to draw with sharpened sticks, it’s the cheapest dip pen I can find and I like the organic look it makes. #linoblock #printmaking

new sticker design!

I got impatient and and tried to blot the wet ink off and it smudged oops #linoblock #skull #printmaking

Today’s bell work drawing was to draw yourself as an original superhero. Obviously, this kid is going places #studentwork #superhero

Oh my day job? I’m a junior high art teacher who has discovered a love for paper mache. The kids are excited for our ceramics project, but I’m counting down the days to start masks this semester! Would we like to see occasional student work here? #artteacher #mask
