Flashback to high school when Winston tried to get my teacher "disciplined" because she ran our Amnesty International group that all wrote letters him about Ahmed Zoui.

I'll never forget doing flood evacuations, media were tailing us for news footage. We didn't think too much of til we door knocked one Chinese resident who opened the door, saw the camera in the background and slammed it in a panic. Dude was terrified. We shooed media away before going back.

A reminder about the perils of presuming to speak for mana whenua, no matter who you are (just don't).

I'm not commenting on anything for obvious reasons (I love my job) except to say it is a fascinating experience sitting on the inside looking out 🧐

Not to comment on anything, but if anyone has found themselves a little underprepared on Denniston help is always given when asked, no matter what and no matter who.

It is rough out there!

Here to report that I managed to forget the name for 'Scaup' and instead referred to them as 'fancy ducks'.

Husband now refusing to call them anything except Fancy Ducks going forward.

lmao no, TikTok users are not moving to Bluesky. They would literally rather learn Mandarin than learn how to read a feed of text posts. This is a millennial retirement home.

Cancelled our NYE social engagements to stay at home with the dogs and watch LOTR.

Made even more fun by asking need husband questions like "Did they even consider other volcanoes? There have to be more in Middle Earth that aren't in Mordor??"

10x funnier because he's a geologist

To be honest, I get frustrated with levels of denial here. But it's kind of a survival response?

There isn't "money" in granity/Ngakawau/Hector. Many houses have been inherited or bought when prices were better. The median age there is 55. Their one nest egg is about to be worthless
honestly at this point i'm like, west coast? they elected climate deniers, there's less than 200 of 'em, fuck 'em. Their problem, not mine.

Given this article in Stuff this morning www.stuff.co.nz/nz-news/3605... you might be thinking Granity sounds like a cute place to buy, sea erosion is probably not that bad.

This is what happened every king tide:

Good peeps on here: helping a friend through a domestic abuse situation and there's a high possibility there is spyware on her phone and possibly a tracker in her car. Any tips on detecting these out there?

OK I need to know if I'm the dick, here:

I got cussed out after my run this morning for not being visible enough?? I mean...I'm running alongside the road (not in the lane) alongside a 5km stretch of straight road??

We are out to dinner in Westport and there is a pair of young uns CLEARLY on a first date.

It's adorable: the mulleted fellow is wearing his clearly FANCY REDBANDS because they are either brand new or polished

We did the thing. No regrets 😁

Apart from maybe the load strap and resulting jaunty angle of the ponga arch 🫣

Hello, I'm the idiot that dropped their phone on the road for the whole of the northern Buller to run over.

Anyway, remembered my password so here I am again.

Ah. So when my little niece recovered from gastro she maybe *did* leave traces of it on her toys she thought it was hilarious to shove in my mouth.

Please enjoy the mortifying day I had where Day 1 of my new job my new boss had to drive me home and watch me vomit in agapanthus on the way
