I like plants
As the days get shorter, at least I have a beautiful Schlumbergera truncata to brighten things up. #bloomscrolling

Attended the 2025 Fungi Foray, hosted by the Luckiamute Watershed Council. It was a wonderful day in the woods. #fungi #mycology #taxonomy #lifelonglearning 🧪 🍄 🍄‍🟫

Hard landing on a Monday morning after a week in paradise. We squeezed a lot in during our week on the Garden Isle of Kauai. #botanistonvacation

Finally did the Tamolitch Blue Pool hike. It was more technical than I expected, and less crowded, which was nice. Since the advent of social media, this spot has become a management issue, but no outrageous incidents during my visit (other than folks not carrying water on a 90F degree day).

I visited two very different coastal ecosystems this weekend. In the salt marsh on Yaquina Bay, the halophile goldenthread (Cuscuta pacifica) wraps around the estuarine paintbrush. On Pirate Cove, the sea thrift (Armeria maritima) paints the cliffs pink. #botany #coastal #oregonnativeplants

A hopeful reminder from an anonymous co-worker who posted this for all to see as we exit the building for the day. Illegitimi non carborundum.

Silver Falls State Park is lovely year round, but especially beautiful in the spring when the falls are flowing and the wildflowers are waking up. #fallsandflowers #botanysky #bloomscrolling

I always get excited this time of year when the early spring bloomers start popping up. The slender toothwort (Cardamine nuttallii) is a small but cheerful Oregon native plant whose presence signals winter is on its way out. #botany #nativeplants #spring
