And that means clothes off, eyes upon his body, everything unveiled for Zhongli to see, to scrutinise. Alive. He’s alive. That’s all Zhongli can process as he fades back into consciousness, the room too bright and the colours melding together like molten metal swirling in the metalsmith’s forge. He’s in the same room as before, in the same bed. The bed. The tentacles. Where are they? Where have they gone? He sweeps his gaze across the room, but everything is normal. The curtains have been drawn and the fire flickers, casting wandering shadows across the darkened room. Hands claw out from the shadows, but they don’t reach him, restrained to the boundaries that the light consigns them to. The tentacles, however, are nowhere to be seen.
