The question they need to answer: why do we want to try to compete? Are we trying to be Alabama? Are we going after the same students? What do we gain by being able to beat Alabama at basketball? What’s the point of all of this?

Before 2021, Alabama won 25+ games four times in 40 years. They’ve now won 25+ games in 4 of 5 years. Between one and done, the transfer portal, and state school scale booster dollars, teams like Villanova can’t compete in the new labor market. It sucks, but they can’t. It’s self-evidential

Two brackets: 56-team main bracket for 14 spots in sweet 16, 16-team play-in bracket for two spots in Sweet 16. Small schools guaranteed 2 spots in every sweet 16 while power schools get more entries and better odds at sweet 16. Everyone wins
