My 8 y.o. surprised me with an omelette for breakfast today. It has cream cheese and spinach in it. I have to say I’m impressed. He found the recipe in his kids cookbook.

Yup! Homemade last night.
Because we all need some joy in these dark times. I made some homemade pizza last night. My goal for 2025, after reading Ultra-processed People, is to cook mostly from scratch and avoid processed foods as much as possible. Only things made by a company was the cheese & flour Homemade tomato sauce 🙌

It’s a snow day here in the South. Meaning everything is closed and no one leaves their house. My plan is to finish this one today, as my book club starts next week.

When you live in the South (where it hasn’t snowed in 4 years) but your mom is originally from the Black Forest, you never have to question if you are prepared for snow. The German motto of “there is no bad weather only bad clothing” definitely rings true in this house.

Yesterday morning, there was a zero chance of snow. Today, the schools are closed and no one is leaving their house. Welcome to the South.
Also, there is now an immense panic, due to the poor weather forecasting, no one had bought their bread and milk. Everyone is now going to starve.

NC: Here is something that isn’t discussed a lot. 1 in 4 teens and 1 in 3 women can’t afford their period products. My daughter’s girls scout troop just collected almost 200 boxes to fight period poverty. Next step, lobbying the NCGA to get rid of sales tax on it. It’s currently taxed as luxury item
