The network was set on the principles that BR through its EPS and ENS subsidiaries would be able to make an 8% return on investment through the routes. Such a constraint had put paid to motorail services (Kensington-Narbonne etc) but sleeper trains were still seen as feasible.

Here's a fundamental problem for real expansion of (night) international trains in Europe: a cheaper, quicker access to suitable trains.
Scale. You need to make a larger order.
All the players are small. And they refuse to coordinate with each other into some sort of consortium.

Twitter-like microblogging has a root problem: It decontextualises conversation. By removing the weight of atuning to the context (including participants’) it lowers the barrier of expression and finding others at the cost of many cases of people talking past each other and getting pissed off.
