Tried again yesterday and it’s even more broken than it was a few months ago

I literally can not get it working. I get as far as after scanning it in and it saying it’s going to return to the page and then it stops working. What a car crash

Other trials included an alx 400 - first didn’t quite work and the 2nd needed some settings changed

I accidentally came across a photo of TOC 4s recent trainee batch and yeah they meet every single thing ive said here - younger people are NOT being allowed near the assessments never mind the jobs
May 8, 2025 at 3:24 PM
This may not be the case for every TOC - ones like GWR and SWR do seem to have a better track record with hiring younger people - rather than the ones in my area which will seemingly hire people 5 years before they retire. 4 separate TOCs doing identical things is diabolical

Its very clear that the issue with the aging drivers are that recruitment are hiring people that are the same age as the current average driver age or older - not that the age of it needs to decrease (although is welcome). Instead you'll have under 30 year olds being rejected until they turn 40.

If you are not familiar with my existence, in summary I have a long history of creation of 1:1 replicas of railway and transport vehicles and infrastructure, and a 1st degree in railway operations and infrastructure.
May 8, 2025 at 3:24 PM
If you are familiar with my existence, you would sort of know my previous experiences and - and its completely absurd why someone with my background and qualifications is struggling to get anywhere with multiple companies - never mind anyone else my age.

Clearly something was up with this because they got back to me claiming that there was "human error" - gonna be honest outright lying to me during the interview is a bit more than an error and they REALLY wanted me to withdraw my official complaint to the ACAS
May 8, 2025 at 3:24 PM
I let this brew for a bit and checked what the law and my rights were and launched an official complaint regarding lack of transparency and I think the wording was something along 'unfair trial"? something along those lines
May 8, 2025 at 3:24 PM
I specifically asked them to elaborate and provide feedback for it, but they claimed that was all the information they had - which is complete bollocks. If you were going to make claims like that you'd have examples in the notes surely?
May 8, 2025 at 3:24 PM
I had to reach out several weeks later (because why would HR have the basic decency to let you know?) and I was told that my competency based interview *checks notes* passed the competency section but "lacked in reasoning". They refused to elaborate on what this meant
May 8, 2025 at 3:24 PM
After the interview where I essentially repeat what was said during the OPC competency interview (as I would know this meets the criteria), I ask them if anything needs clarification and they insist they do not. Silence after this.
May 8, 2025 at 3:24 PM
to make sure that competency is what theyre after so only relevant information is shared - they confirm this and outright lie to my face about it - relevant for later. It is worth noting one of the interviewers left the company the week after
May 8, 2025 at 3:24 PM
So we're 4 TOCs in - I've passed those assessments which are required by the RSSB, clearly a fit for it. TOC Interview comes, they tell me that it is a "competency based interview" - and clarify that it is very similar to that already conducted by the OPC. I specifically ask them to clarify this...
May 8, 2025 at 3:24 PM
During this, they also told me that when I previously did those online assessments, I had passed it for TOC 2 - which conflicts what they told me. They weren't able to give an exact score, but I'm sure them being hellbent on a certain demographic had nothing to do with that
May 8, 2025 at 3:24 PM
So let's get onto TOC 4 - the spicy one. So this one actually let me do the assessment and to absolutely no surprise, I passed all of it (including the competency bit - important for later!), which you would think yeah surely they wouldn't waste my time after this? ohohoh boy
May 8, 2025 at 3:24 PM
The first one even had someone as old as 55! Majority between 40-50. 2nd assessment centre had multiple TOCs, again no one under 40.

Now you may think I'm judging people on their looks, but I can assure you they somehow willingly talk about this to other people - not sure why?
May 8, 2025 at 3:24 PM
So I've been to the assessment centre twice - and I think this is the most revealing thing about it - younger people are simply not being allowed for the assessments. Every single time ive been there's not been a single person below 30, and we're talking 20 people for 1 and 10 the the 2nd
May 8, 2025 at 3:24 PM
would provide the information required. OPC claims they need permission to give me access to emails which talk about me (they dont) and the TOC say that they would only have stuff regarding results and didnt send any or reply to me after that
May 8, 2025 at 3:24 PM
TOC 3: Was advised that it was in my best interest to check if I am allowed reasonable adjustments, and the TOC will rearrange it. To no surprise, this didnt happen despite multiple reminder emails. Wasn't able to pursue a case against them as neither the assessment centre or the toc...

TOC 1: Incorrectly calculated distance from depot despite being comfortably within range. Refused to elaborate on how they worked it out
TOC 2: Wasted 2 years waiting and claimed I didnt pass (important wording for later!)
