A bit of a rebrand for the ODT. It’s great to see we still have independent media voices, which is so important! 👏

Keen to celebrate tonight at our networking event with more than 160 people from businesses keen to be a part of it.
Allied Press’ evolution leads to rebrand as Allied Media
It is the dawn of a new era for Allied Press — now officially Allied Media. The parent company of the Otago Daily Times and more than 20 other...

Imagine if instead of providing passenger ferry service we just made everyone own their own small boats. It would be chaos and totally unsafe on days like today. And obviously not everyone could afford one. Plus imagine the dock space required!
But that’s basically what we do with cars 🤣

"Fietsvlonders" are mobile bike platforms designed to turn a car parking spot into urban bike parking. They’re modular, moveable, and cheap, making it easy to test better use of public space. When car storage gets swapped for bikes, entire streets start to feel different.

I have video of the exact moment I was completely sold on vibrant cities, streets for people, and active transportation. It happened right here, and I lost all sense of reality. I felt like I was in a movie. This was my urbanist awakening, the moment I turned against car dependency. 👇

Streets open to people (aka closed to vehicles), great architecture and NZ-brewed Belgian beer? Nailed it Oamaru. 👏🏻😎

Clyde, from a quiet gold mine town to a town that is booming due to the surrounding bike trails and has turned into a real bike hub which has lead to providing true transport choice for tourists and locals. 🧵

Yes, things are tough for sustainable transport in Aotearoa/ NZ at present. So more important than ever to celebrate the wins, such as the launch of electric train services from Pukekohe & accompanying local bus service improvements. Congestion pricing relies on cameras and RFID EZ PASS readers to operate.

This technology can only work in a 20-foot radius.

I intend to deprive the @MTA of congestion pricing tolls by using a system of tunnels 100+ feet below Manhattan where the gantries can't detect me.

In my short time working at The Spinoff, I met people who I’d argue are more important to NZ society than you can imagine.

It’s a flipping hard job, especially in this environment, and there’s no similar media org in New Zealand. They need our support. thespinoff.co.nz/media/28-11-...

What’s the logic here? We have to provide extensive driver training to everyone before they’re allowed to drive? Doesn’t seem very cost effective. 🙄

Safe drivers don’t mind safe speeds. Lower speeds enforced by more speed cameras mean safer roads. It’s not difficult to understand. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Looking at you Auckland Council and your Downtown & Victoria car parks. 👀
“I’m not saying you can’t drive a car: what I’m questioning is having someone subsidise my decision to drive and park.”

Parking is being managed in cities “like a badly-run charity,” & that money comes from somewhere.

From Australia, relevant everywhere.
