Austin, TX. The lands of the lizards.

We’re seeing a lot of backlash to school closures in Austin since they form the heartbeat of every neighborhood.

But when the school zoning for east Riverside/Oltorf is a patchwork like this, how do those schools establish themselves in a neighborhood in the first place?

If anyone is wondering why the Texas Eagle is often late, this Goliath slowly moseyed through Dallas’ Union Station for at least 15 minutes.

Freight is an essential way to move goods, but I sure wish we could had more passing track along freight lines shared by passenger rail.

Today I’m live from Klyde Warren park as the Austin City Council is poised to vote on caps of our own over 35.

Biggest difference I can tell is that Klyde Warren has some parallel parking to slow street traffic.

Let’s go on a dream called commuter rail service south all the way to Buda, courtesy of a future where Buda joins the CapMetro system and UP shares ROW for double tracking.

I’m against urban freeways, but if there were a grand bargain where CTRMA were to share 25% of toll revenue to CapMetro in exchange for support for expanding 35 and MOPAC, would that be worth it?

It could spell hundreds of millions for transit to expand light rail or improve bus service.

What a town.

St.Ed's would be perfect. If they could be talked into sharing their 20-acre fields, it would be a short 5-minute walk from campus.

Property next door full of asphalt is another 10 acres if they could come to an agreement.

I'm guessing there may be some ways to keep the river at bay, perhaps with a levee system. Having a few more red bud isles would be pretty cool if we could slightly lower the lake level and still control the banks well.

Either way, it would be nice to reclaim what seems to be the old quarry site.

Longhorn Dam was constructed to cool the Holly generation station. With the power plant decommissioned, should we remove the dam and return Town Lake to a narrower river?

Could create a lot of new parkland.
