At GDC 2024 I listened to a talk that shook me. It was "A Case for Making Your Own Game Engine" by Rez Graham.
He laid out his "mad" reasons for why we should get off other engines.
"Propostrous!", I laughed.
But...there was something there, gnawing at me. I couldn't let the idea go...

It's funny that the things people said about Japanese like "no future tense" and "no plurals" end up being absolutely nothing to me. Literally never even think about that being an issue (and they are only partial truths anyway).
There are so many other, *much* harder things to contend with 😆

It's only recently that I realized for nearly all facets of society you should look for places where those in power are trying to turn us against each other. This SNAP thing in the US? Bikes vs. cars? Even some environmental issues? Etc.

Halloween good. Mostly agree, but to do a hard swerve: next we need a Men Stay Home day. Let women walk around safely at night at any hour doing whatever the heck they want. It obv wouldn't be addressing the root issues directly, but the inevitable revalations from it could.

I feel like I say this every year but I really need people to hear it. Halloween is the best American holiday. Just kids outside welcomed into their world, marching around together, showing off their costumes to the elderly, parents meeting parents, neighbors catching up with neighbors.

I've been noodling away at a turn-based tower defense deckbuilder prototype. Each battle, you play cards to build your tower or directly attack the battlefield. Then there's a round of auto-battling as your tower goes to work and the enemies take their actions.

Now on act 2 in Silksong and this game was tuned to be too difficult for my tastes. Honestly a tiny bit sad, as the Hollow Knight was so easy to recommend. Silksong is a difficult recommendation. I am a bit surprised, as I thought it would be a sequel, but it plays more like an "expert mode" DLC.

I say again - I'm not even into Marvel or comic stuff at all, but this game looks incredible. First fighting game I've been interested in since Smash Ultimate.
Do not underestimate the power of Marvel and anime combined.

I made a topic to ask if players are bothered by the jingoistic propoganda pushed by military shooter games. It has bugged me for a long time. This is extremely unscientific, but here are some poll results. Many even stated a recent change in views, coinciding with current geopolitical situation.
