Hon. mention goes to Meet The Residents (1974) and Not Available (recorded 1974-ish, released 1978). Technically not back-to-back—most of Not Available was recorded after MTR and is considered by the band to be their 2nd album tho it was released as their 5th. Nothing else sounds like them

What’re your favorite back-to-back albums by a band? For me it’s almost certainly In den Gärten Pharaos (1971) + Hosianna Mantra (1972) by Popol Vuh. Two extraordinarily unique and powerful albums with different approaches and instrumentation. Extremely rare a band pulls something this special off 💜
