Well, we received an interesting poll by scout leaders prospectively taking a couple of hundred youth members abroad for 3 weeks - if the destination was the US would you still want to go?

A few years ago this would have been a pretty wild question...

At the mercy of the capricious public transport system today. 1 bus an hour, if it bothers to stop (usually only a problem for my kids, but tales of their experiences cause me a flutter of nervousness every time the bus approaches).

I just love how cheerful the courgette flowers are, greeting the sun in the morning.

I was "drying the tent" before putting it away 🤦‍♀️😆

At least I don't think I need to water the plants today 🌧️🌾🪴

Once again I've fallen into the trap of cleaning the house for visitors rather than myself...

We've nearly finished our Expo Bingo - should have made it harder!

Only the geese to go...

Fantastic ending to Baroness Kidron's speech in the House of Lords yesterday, which led to the government's defeat on AI & copyright.

Speaking the UK's creators: "Their property, their labour, is worthy of your protection - because apart from anything else, it is not ours to give away."

The world is a bit shit at the moment, so currently inward focused survival mode is activated.

Beautiful rose in my garden (the rose bush has looked after itself this year so I'm surprised anything has sprouted). Its scent is gorgeous, and reminds me of my grandad's garden in my childhood.

I think it was actually easier to put eye drops in the guinea pigs than in myself - not the way round I was expecting.

He's either just being really snuggly or is planning to scoop out my brains with his claws. I can't quite decide.

A lovely morning at the community farm. Ice still on the cavalero nero leaves when we picked them. Trays of onion seeds planted up in the polytunnels. Hot tea to warm chilly fingers. Some unexpectedly solemn discussion that has lingered with me.

Snuggling up as if he hadn't just been reported to me for sleeping in someone's else's garden and worrying them that he was homeless!

My teens cause fewer issues (but shh let's not tempt fate...)

Which way is up? This photo I took on our walk this afternoon intrigued me, sky or water?

You'd think there was a limit to how many pictures I could take of a slepy cute cat but it appears not.

I suspect I'm jealous.

"taking your bike for a walk?"

Yes, haha very funny. This very important bit sheared off this important bit, at the farthest most point of my journey.

My bike repair kit being about as useful as a plaster at a major trauma, bike totally kaputt for time being and an unexpected journey on foot.

First book of 2025 - actually, it's a continuation from last year, but it's what I'm reading today.

Finally managed to impress someone at work. I mentioned I made my own Yorkshire puddings.

My job is nothing to do with cooking.
