This point absolutely correct and I will add that Mamdani demonstrates that an insurgency, even one with real moral clarity and anger at the status quo, can still be cheerful and inviting.

"The Thin Man created a truly equal romantic partnership that was neither stumbling toward matrimony nor frustrated by its restraints, a portrait of a thoroughly modern marriage so ahead of its time you can hardly believe it's nearing its centennial anniversary."

A naked attack on the freedom of libraries, the expertise of librarians (in favor of rank partisan politicians), and your freedom to access information.

They want to eat your rights and smother dissent
BREAKING: The 5th Circuit has ruled that the 1st Amendment does not guarantee the "right to receive information" in public libraries.

The ruling against library patrons in Llano County, Texas overturns a 30-year precedent barring the gov't from removing books for political reasons.

I think Mel Brooks once said something like: Tragedy is when I stub my toe, comedy is when you fall in an open sewer and die. By extension, "censorship" is when I can't use racial slurs on a private social media platform; "free speech" is when you get abducted off the street for political opinions.

This shit is deranged. There are lots of attractive people in the world. You're allowed to be attracted to them!

These people need to spend less time on tiktok and more time watching New Hollywood hangout movies where everyone is kinda in love with each other
Pledged to stop making "are the straights ok" jokes after reading Richard Reeves' book but man, Dating TikTok is testing me

I've seen people dismiss the Pornhub bans, sometimes couching their dismissal in an anti-porn stance. What I don't think they realize is that the people pushing this stuff conflate porn with LGBTQ people and sex education and are part of Project 2025

yeah but it's all about national security and it's not like the incoming president has called the press and left activists "the enemy within" so I'm sure it's nothing to be worried about
If the opinion says requiring divestiture of a speech platform has nothing to do with the First Amendment and thus doesn't trigger scrutiny, that gives a very powerful tool to a unified Congress + President to require the sale of The Nation, Crooked Media, and MSNBC.

The way that university officials have begun to treat “peaceful” and “disruptive” as antonyms, when they in fact are not antonyms, is the kind of violence to language that one expects of authoritarians
