My only way of dealing with this has been to tell people it's going on in my mind and release the pressure. But now I'm beginning to think "this is the tiring, needy conversation they will reject me over"

When I was about 12, some local lads bolted two plastic barriers they'd nicked onto a council bin. I was called over to add mass. Eight of us stood up in a metal bin hurtling towards the river ingrebourne, stopping about five feet from the edge

You couldn't assemble a stack of empty cardboard boxes and leave them on the street in '75 without someone driving through them in a Ford Capri. Subsequent generations seem to have completely given up on leaving empty cardboard boxes on the street. These are the skills and pastimes that get lost
