I'm as WASPy as they come, I have like 30 aunts and uncles, only like 20 of them I'm related to (and most of those are technically my first cousins once removed)
And white folks do the same - esp Irish & Italian Americans. They are trying to act brand new here.
My Black behind can name four different people I grew up calling "aunt" or "uncle" that I have absolutely no relation to. There's about a dozen kids who call me "uncle" or "unc" that I have no blood relation to.
