I'm not sure what exactly is being measured here, given LLM stuff is being inserted into every digital service used by anyone

“but my car needs petrol until alternatives are possible for me” is a strong argument

“but we need the machine that tells children how to kill themselves” is… not

“your house burned down so we could increase B2B SaaS productivity” will get you knocked out, as it should

it's such a huge problem that we collectively understand so little about the ways the ALP completely restructured the economy

there's about a third of a really good interesting piece here, wish they'd gone into more detail about how childcare/early childhood education was structured pre-privatisation etc

don't reply to them
don't repost them
don't dunk on them
don't talk about them
especially do not make threats about them or at them

and their soft power vanishes

there's a volts ep on closed-loop pumped hydro (you may have already listened!) Apart from the embedded carbon in the concrete I'm not sure why we aren't building these all over the place

What's the deal with pumped-hydro energy storage?
Can two artificial reservoirs and gravity compete with batteries? Erik Steimle makes the case for modern pumped-hydro storage.

A really excellent novel, I cannot recommend it highly enough. Magical realist elements described always in prose that brutally enforces the mundane, much like the Town itself is always doing. For me the ultimate novel about post-Howard Australia. Make sure you read the acknowledgements at the end.

Royce have you read The Town by Shaun Prescott? He captures exactly this phenomenon in a way that exposes how horrifying it can be
