The work of US funded science has been the basis of many groundbreaking discoveries that go on to be commercialized by our rich entrepreneurial ecosystem that propelled the US economy into the world's best. About half of our billionaires are from tech cos that depended upon this investment.

As a PhD scientist whose daughter had an NSF fellowship (finished her PhD in December), I can't tell you how much this enrages me.
