Maybe don’t use such a biblically resonant word like “strangers” when pushing an anti-immigrant agenda that directly contradicts every passage you’re unwittingly alluding to.
Keir Starmer says immigration system is “almost designed to permit abuse” and that it risks “pulling the country apart”.

PM says UK needs tougher rules to reduce immigration significantly or it risks becoming “an island of strangers”.

Couldn't think of food I wanted. 1 part barley, 2 parts rice into the rice cooker with a pat of butter. That'll hold me until I can figure out real food.

Cat stomachs being gassy and gurgling are not quieter than human stomachs being gassy and gurgling. Stella is really annoyed by her own guts today.

The yard (since it's untreated by chemical application etc) sprouted a bunch of yellow rocket (Barbarea vulgaris, aka wintercress). @geekers.bsky.social spent 30 minutes digging up about 4L volume of the stuff and I trimmed it down to flowers and leaves. Blanched in salted/lemoned water. Delicious.

About seven years ago, Nick and I wrote a Black Mirror spec where people had a personal AI device called ChooseU that helped you make the best decisions for yourself, gradually transforming you into a complete narcissistic sociopath who’d do anything to get what you want.

Anyway, they’ve made that.
This story explains a LOT of things: ChatGPT appears to be rooting on sociopathic mental illness by validating every delusion of grandeur.

It also explains, in part, the hype cycle around AI: rich people, addicted to praise, invented a Compliment Machine.

This will keep happening, again, every time Republicans get a shred of power, for decades. The precedent is set, and they will not stop for a couple of generations.

There's current IBM hardware out there still running code that was last *compiled* in the 1990s. After generations of operating system and platform architecture changes. Through dozens of layers of abstraction and compatibility shells. MS does a GOOD job of this, but IBM is better.
Anyone who's written assembly for mainframes has interacted with both the most ancient still-in-production software stack and the most modern.

Record storage and access is basically the same as it has been for 50+ years despite disks having been introduced and then reworked at least once.
