I am fond of night and darkness, but of course I live in an era when artificial light is almost too abundant. I don't like them used as metaphors for negative things since that can have racial overtones. And the desert taught me to love shade and night as reprieve from the glaring light and heat.

I went to a 49ers game back in the 90’s, and holy hell was it the slowest game in the world. 90 seconds of play and 10 minutes to break for ads.
