I was on the @hellishpod.com podcast recently, where you choose songs from hell, and I (like a lot of guests) have realised it’s near-impossible to have an objective opinion on a worst song. Even more than best songs, they are tangled up with autobiography.
Lots of takes on "We Built This City" today, apparently.
It's not a song I have ever deliberately chosen to listen to, but its status as canonical "worst song ever" is far more tedious than the song itself. It's neither bad enough nor interesting enough to be worth the performative hatred.

Wogan (1 Dec 89), Going Live! (2 Dec 89), Blankety Blank (YouTube have generally been good at retaining these - it was 27 Dec 89, a panto special), Paul Daniels, and also I heard them on R1's weekend breakfast show with Bruno Brookes, odd as I was not a regular listener there at the weekend.
