Great to see coverage of our latest report funded by the Dept of Children today. Many of the children experiencing deprivation but who are not below the income poverty line are in households with high housing costs, have incomes just above the poverty threshold or have additional costs or debts

Benefits for father’s leave in Ireland are paid at a flat rate & are lower than in most EU countries. Fathers who have more of the income replaced are more likely to take leave, as are those in couples where the mother is the main earner. Read more in our new study published today!

Disappointing to see we’re going backwards in level of female representation. ‘Labour leader Ivana Bacik pointed out that there are as many men called James as there are senior women in Cabinet.’ ! Not a good look for Irish politics. We need more diverse voices in decision-making not less
Moving forward, Gender equality should be taken into serious consideration, particularly when it comes to the appointment of junior ministers.
