Just before things started to nosedive on twitter, I posted a thread that walked through the massive body of work I did over the last three years (on an inspiring team) on the cancelled Project Dragon aka Everhaven.
For posterity I reckon I'll repost that thread, piece by piece, over here ✨

🤑 VAMOS INVESTIGAR AS BETS? 👊

Você, assim como milhões de brasileiros, certamente já foi bombardeado por propagandas de bets.

Elas tão em todo lugar: no futebol, nas músicas do TikTok, nas falas de influencers e até nos SMS’s invasivos que chegam no celular sem parar. (+)

In the replies to this your man suggests questioning and reviewing the sources the AI uses.
Great advice. Of course, that is only possible if you have studied the subject to an advanced degree.
Oy.
If you have zero education, but learn how to ask AI models the right questions , in many jobs you will be able to outperform someone with an advanced degree, but who is unwilling to use Large Language Models.

Just takes a smartphone, curiosity to experiment and a mindset to learn.

PDF uploader for Bluesky!

Open social networks are so cool because they make this type of niche innovation possible

👇 Highly recommended for anyone interested in #SciComm and #SciViz

If you're training scientists please pass this on to your students! Not every scientist should be expected to become a skilled communicator/illustrator but I think it's important to understand WHY and HOW to engage with the public.

It's simple.

If someone is in favor of misinformation, this someone profits from it, financially or in other ways.

Lies generate not only profit but dangerous stuff as well like hate crimes, dictatorships, etc.

That's what the techbros from X and Meta are allowing.

And they need to be stopped.
