I stand with Rep. LaMonica McIver! Trump’s Justice Department is completely out of control and abusing its power—trying to go after Members of Congress. We will not stand for it!
Today’s decision is disappointing. I am not in this fight only for myself, and I’m concerned that this decision will simply embolden the administration.

This case is not over. I am committed to protecting my community, our people, and our country.

There are probably things I’d less rather read, like a Larry Summers / Jed Rubenfeld / Alan Dershowitz coauthored piece on why it’s important for due process that the low-IQ girls not be able to take down important men, but this has to be pretty close to the bottom.

Some really dystopian controls being put in place here. The “approved” content is completely subjective and this will be weaponized to attack professors and instructors who teach about ideas that go against the prevailing statewide political winds. This is anathema to academic freedom & free inquiry

It’s not over but when it is I will never, ever forget the “serious people” who buckled and compromised and abetted the torture and crime and murder for a fascist lottery ticket.
I think the core point is that trump had a honeymoon in which capital/media/political opposition all decided he was the one true voice of america. he did a lot of horrible things with that (including murdering 100s of thousands), but didn't consolidate power...

This is real news. Reporters, please report on it.

ELEVEN former top FCC officials, Republican and Democratic, came together to condemn FCC Chairman Carr's abuses of power and efforts to suppress legal speech.

It's not just Jimmy Kimmel. The FCC's jawboning and chill on legal speech is ongoing.
Government has no business policing media for viewpoint bias or balance. The FCC must repeal its news distortion policy, urges a bipartisan group of 11 former FCC Chairs, Commissioners & other top officials in a petition we filed today with @protectdemocracy.org

I love the way each of the six baby crocodiles in this photo seems to have a completely distinct personality.
Top (l.-r.): Introvert, idealist, jerk
Bottom (l.-r.): Class clown, stoner, pessimist
By the mid-1970s, only 200 American crocodiles remained, their habitat largely gobbled up by sunseekers. But hope lurked in the shadows of a nuclear power plant—the same facility built to air-condition the homes that had led to the reptiles’ demise. Read more about this unlikely partnership:
