Predicted and started as I drove my mom home from delayed Thanksgiving. A little heavier as I drove home.
When we arrived - great niece (9yo), playing with her brothers in the driveway. First question - did I bring Caesar salad? Her favorite thing - for 5-6 years. It’s all she ate. Warms my ♥️.

I love some fruitcakes - yours looks good! But I really like what I make - just enough flour and eggs to hold the ingredients together.
A chunk of fruitcake that’s been cut - it shows there is very little ‘cake’ and it’s just nuts, dates, cherries, and pineapple held together. Basically an premium energy bar.

Thanksgiving is Saturday because my niece is on call.

This is a Ziggy Shawl (designed by Joji / Jojilocat) I made a few years ago. 🧶 is DyeForYarn tussah fingering. Thinking about using the silk mohair yarn I posted earlier to make another one.

The theme is FLOOF for #ShowMeYouKnits this week. I used DyeForYarn MoFluff Silk Mohair in Last Dance colorway to make Nevasca Shawl last year. I gave it to my niece - she needed a shawl for my sister’s/her mom’s funeral a year ago. Ordered more yarn and thinking I might make a Ziggy Shawl.
A silk mohair in a dark purple color - a mix of bands of garter stitch and Old Shale pattern. The shawl is draped on a dress form, the photo was taken outside on a patio and the background is browned out grass and green trees. There’s a pot of red mandevilla in the one corner. Four skeins of silk and mohair yarn from DyeForYarn. The colorway is Last Dance - a dark purple red and this batch has some darker and lighter areas - a little different from other skeins I’ve bought.

Took flowers to the National Cemetery today for Veterans Day. Sadly there will probably be a bit of snow on them by Tuesday. #owrnc

Failed #socktober but did finally finish the gusset on my Cosine Wave Socks (designer @verybusymonkey.bsky.social). Good to have work projects but it sure takes up knitting time. Love the socks - love her patterns.

Down to the last few rows of this Musselburgh hat (by @ysoldaknits.bsky.social) in The Life of a Showgirl colorway. First one I made was for my niece (trauma surgeon) and this one is for my niece, her sister (architect). They continue a family tradition of strong, smart, and capable women.

The yarn color is a blue-green variegation with beige and browns that pool into areas of color. There’s a wide stripe of orange that will show when the hat is worn with that brim color turned up.

Beautiful fall colors driving to my mom’s this morning to pick up her laundry! (Fun fact for sports fans - this is where Myles crashed his car a few years ago.)

Chilly night - knitting another Musselburgh hat (@ysoldaknits.bsky.social) in The Life of a Showgirl colorway. The yarn coordinates with the hedgehog blanket my mom made. Made the first hat hoping my niece would like it - and another niece (her sister) wants one. #ShowMeYourKnits

Saw my niece I hoped would want the Life of a Showgirl–colorway hat. She did. I asked my niece/her sister if she wanted one like it - and she said she would. Not much knitting time this week - but happy to have this easy project on my needles. @ysoldaknits.bsky.social Musselburgh hat.
The start of a doubled hat - yarn colorway is Life of a Showgirl by Canon Hand Dyes. The end with the variegated blue/green/rust is done and the short orange section is being knit now. After the orange, the blue/green/rust will pick up and be knit until the other end. The hat is on a wooden table.

Work projects and a birthday celebration for my mom and grandniece over the weekend have taken my knitting time. But turned the heel on my Cosine Wave Socks (designer is @verybusymonkey.bsky.social). Bonus chocolate pie photo. Sorry I didn’t take a photo of the garlic-Parm focaccia - was delicious!
Cosine Wave Socks progress - the leg of the sock and heel flap have been knitted and the stitches are picked up for the gusset. The yarn is a dark gray and the in-progress sock and the ball of yarn are on a wooden table. A chocolate pie on a granite countertop. I used a purchased graham cracker crust so it’s in a foil pie plate. My mom used to make this for my brother-in-law. This was the first time I made it and happy to take it to a family gathering to celebrate birthdays.

Ordered some WYS sock yarn from Simply Sock Yarn - Mulled Wine sparkle and Mulberry solid (matches the dark tone in Mulled Wine). Also got some “I’m only a witch without my yarn“ stickers! Think she has free project bags with that saying this week.

Happy #Socktober - and #ShowMeYourKnits is socks this week! I cast on Cosine Wave Socks by Verybusymonkey last night. I have several patterns by this designer and about time I knitted some of them. 🧶 is Mondim, 100% Portuguese wool.
The cuff and start of the patterning of a dark gray wool sock. The cuff is stretched a bit to show how the knit and purl sequence flows into the pattern of knits, knit decreases, and purls. The label for the Mondim yarn is on the right and the ball of yarn is in the top of the photo.

Thank you! Yes, a second one. i love this yarn - but fingering weight so it will take longer. Here’s the first one - how did I not post this before? 🤷🏻‍♀️I wore it to an appointment on Thursday - a chilly morning and it felt good.

Everything is so grim. Cast on a new BAO BAO shawl. Multicolor yarn is a special Miss Babs colorway to support WNC after hurricane Helene last year.

BAO BAO shawl progress as a diversion. Inadvertent Scarlet and Gray but my husband got his PhD there and I know he would have liked this. Work project is taking priority over knitting but I can’t wait to finish. 🧶 Malabrigo Rios and a natural merino/silk/yak.

Swallowtail caterpillars munching on the flat leaf parsley - happy the bunnies left some for them! And happy to share.

Two @isabellkraemer.bsky.social designs - BAO BAO shawl in red and gray and Kyler in some of my mom’s handspun wool.
Three different unfinished knitted pieces on a wood-like floor. The hat is knit in a blue/bluegreen yarn with an orange stripe that will be one of the brims of the reversible, double-layer hat. One shawl is a lace pattern knit with brown handspun yarn. The second shawl is knit in stripes of red and gray yarn using a dip stitch that pulls a blob of color down into the previous color.

Cast on BAO BAO, a new shawl pattern from Isabell Kraemer. I'm carrying the resting yarn along the edge, catching/twisting the resting color after knitting the first 2 stitches. Keeps the floats a little in from the edge. 🧶 is undyed merino, silk, and yak and Rios in Libra and Scorpio.
