I haven't seen the reports, but anecdotally, it's quite common in this area for patients with Medicare to have trouble finding doctors who will take them. (My husband was an ER doc in a high-poverty area for 27 years.) (2/2)

Interesting. I wonder if that varies by location or by specialty? Or maybe it depends on how one defines "accept"- perhaps doctors cap the number of Medicare patients at a time in their practice. (1/2)

It's not rare. Medicare reimbursement rates to providers are so low that some doctors find they can't break even when they accept Medicare patients.
