Thankyou Patrick for highlighting the climate crisis as an enormous risk to patient safety. Perhaps one day the gmc will acknowledge that your act is one of professionalism and not impairment

As a patient, carer, educator, psychologist, I’d have far more confidence in Dr Patrick as my (or anyone’s) GP than those on the tribunal who ruled to suspend him from practice. Openly raising the alarm about harm, when other actions have been disregarded, is an act of responsibility.

🧵The British Medical Association passed two motions this year at ARM condemning disciplinary action against medical activists and adding that the BMA would “…continue to regard any doctors erased from the register for non-violent protest as professional colleagues in good standing”.

🧵The GMC prosecution has previously argued that imprisonment for climate protest is de facto evidence of misconduct that negatively impacts the confidence of the public in the profession. They insist context and motivation are irrelevant
