If I was a LA voter I'd be pissed about their governor's statement regarding the election they just had which rejected 4 proposed constitutional ammendments.

Just in NIH grants, It looks like beautiful Iowa City, home of the U of Iowa, will lose $71m in funding. That's almost $1k per resident. And that's before all the other cuts to SSA, FDA, etc.
Anyone in Iowa City that can offer more insight?

Today's legislative spotlight incudes legislation for Medicaid recipients to meet work requirements. It seems like a no brainer- until you see the numbers. Chances are we'd end up paying as much or more to make sure people were working than if we just left it alone.

I got asked yesterday what my weapon of choice would be in the zombie apocalypse. The lady was surprised when I told her, w/ zero hesitation, that I don't have one because I would be among the first to fall. My rationale being that children would be the primary disease vector & I'm a school nurse. 😂
