And when it comes to the full TV adaptations of the Four Classics (as in, based on the entire story than a specific chunk), the 80s-90s CCTV adaptations are pretty much the universally agreed best ones, esp. since all the later remakes post-90s are all pretty lousy lol, barring the 2011 Water Margin

It was a departure from his samurai films that it sort of caught me off balance. I was surprised at just how dynamic it was. It really is a classic. Ikuru surprised me too.
