62 years ago today, JFK was assassinated in Dallas.
I was 16 & at a Young Conservative meeting, when we heard the news & were glued to the TV in shock.

I never imagined that decades later, as an MP, I’d stand in the Book Depository & look out from the window where the shots were allegedly fired.

My letter in @telegraphnews.bsky.social today.

The BBC doesn’t need defenders who excuse shameless propaganda. A broadcaster funded by licence payers must report the news, not reshape it.

Accountability strengthens institutions. Blind loyalty corrodes them.

Rupert Lowe is the latest calling for the return of capital punishment - however, it has no place in Britain. False allegations nearly destroyed my life & they ruin lives today. A fallible system cannot be trusted with irreversible punishment. Popular or not,it would put innocent people at risk.

Kai Lloyd, 14, took his own life after being falsely accused & arrested for theft - despite there being no evidence or corroboration.

His accuser should be prosecuted.

A most tragic & depressing case. False allegations can kill.

My heartfelt condolences to Kai’s loved ones.

Pleased to see coverage of His Grace the Duke of Rutland’s letter to Defence Secretary John Healey MP supporting the Vulcan XH558 & the Vulcan To The Sky Trust featured in today’s @yorkshirepost.co.uk

The Vulcan is a national treasure & a vital educational asset, so we must secure its future.

#WorldMentalHealthDay.

1 in 4 face mental health challenges. Suicide claims over 6,000 lives per year in UK - the leading cause of death for people under 35, & the biggest killer of men under 50.

I have PTSD & have come close to ending my life. Please know you are not alone – help is available.

Today, His Grace the Duke of Rutland - aviation historian, enthusiast & former Chairman of his local ATC Civilian Committee - has written to Defence Secretary John Healey urging support for Vulcan XH558.

This iconic jet is heritage & inspiration in one. We must not let its future be lost.

Michelle Mone’s position in the House of Lords is untenable.

After today’s High Court ruling that PPE Medpro must repay £122m for supplying gowns that were unusable & unsafe, she should resign or be expelled. She should also be stripped of her OBE. Public trust demands nothing less.

My Letter to the Editor of @thetimes.com.

In East Wiltshire, Reform UK came 4th last election while 16,849 (35.7%) backed a Conservative Member of Parliament.

Danny Kruger should resign, re-stand for Reform, and let democracy take its course. The people of East Wiltshire must decide.
September 16, 2025 at 12:47 PM
Tory MP Danny Kruger has defected to Reform UK.

He should resign to trigger a by election and stand as a Reform candidate.

He must let democracy takes its course & allow the people of his of East Wiltshire constituency to decide.

I have written to the House of Lords Commissioners for Standards calling for the expulsion of Peter Mandelson from the upper chamber.

Twice forced from Cabinet, tainted by Epstein links, lack of transparency & openness in public office - he undermines the integrity the Lords must uphold.
September 13, 2025 at 12:52 PM
In Parliament on Wednesday, Keir Starmer said he had full confidence in Peter Mandelson.

He either didn’t know the truth about the full extent of Mandelson’s relationship with Jeffrey Epstein, or he lied to Parliament to cover it up.

Which ever it was, he should resign.
September 12, 2025 at 7:03 AM
Peter Mandelson is unique in modern British history, having been forced out office for three different scandals across four different decades.

If he is unfit to be Secretary of State & Ambassador, then he is unfit to be a Member of the House of Lords & should be expelled.
September 12, 2025 at 7:02 AM
Beyond appalling that the office of Sharon Hodgson MP was set on fire & vandalised.

Those in public office must be free to serve & campaign without fear.

There is a place to make your views known - at the ballot box!

Thank goodness no one was hurt.
September 11, 2025 at 12:38 PM
Peter Mandelson has been sacked as British Ambassador to the US.

We must now know what Keir Starmer knew & when regarding the appointment & Mandelson’s links to Jeffrey Epstein & the extent of the relationship.

Ambassadors must command unimpeachable credibility.

My @dailyexpressnews.bsky.social article outlines why Chris Bryant’s claims of being assaulted by 5 MPs - vague & timed for a book launch – risk smearing innocent men without evidence. We’ve been here before. This isn’t justice. It’s reckless, dangerous & deeply unfair.

For many years, people have urged me to rebuke @mrjamesob.bsky.social for his role in shamelessly supporting Carl Beech.

Until now, I have resisted, but I’m one of the few still alive to respond.

For those unable to view online, attached is my article in @telegraphnews.bsky.social today.

Happy Yorkshire Day!

A proud Yorkshireman, I spent my formative years in God's Own County.

I was born in Pontefract in 1947, briefly lived in Leeds, attended Scarborough High School for Boys, read history at University of York & was president of York Tories from 1967-1969

One year on from the tragic murders of Elsie Dot Stancombe, Bebe King & Alice Dasilva Aguiar in Southport, they remain in my thoughts.

My deepest sympathies are with their loved ones, & with all those affected by the attack.

Congratulations to the Lionesses on their Euros win.

History made today with the Lionesses being the first English team to win a major tournament on foreign soil.

They have made us roar with national pride!

20 years ago today, Jean Charles de Menezes was shot dead by police. No crime. No threat. No justice.

Those responsible were promoted, honoured, pensioned off.

In Britain, power protects its own. Failure is rewarded. Justice is denied.

That is not justice. That is betrayal.
July 22, 2025 at 8:55 AM
In @thetimes.com on Tuesday, following TUI informing me that they will not allow me to use their services due to my 1987 conviction for gross indecency - a “crime” no longer on the statute books.

Under ‘Alan Turning Law’ I can apply to have it expunged.

13 committed suicide because of the Post Office scandal. Many more came close. The Horizon system was flawed & they knew it, & still they prosecuted.

Successive governments share the blame. Sir Keir Starmer must order proper redress now. Justice delayed is justice denied.

By Police Scotland.

Automatic belief in people who claim they have been raped: police will ‘respect you and believe you’.

Centuries of British justice overthrown in one sentence.

I have sympathy for genuine rape victims, but allegations must be tested. Complainants are not victims until proven.
June 17, 2025 at 12:49 PM
My statement on the Independent Office for Police Conduct not investigating Steve Rodhouse for gross misconduct for his role in Operation Midland.

This is a dark day for justice. It is yet another shameful chapter in a decade-long cover-up.

The IOPC not a watchdog, it is a toothless lapdog.
