The tools are very handy. I use a stainless tool that I’m pretty sure is for fishing stuff out of a deep fryer 😂. Picked it up at a kitchen supply store, and it works a treat!
Calvert Cliffs has GREAT fossils, but if you want quantity over quality, try Purse State Park. A little older, still v fun.

“Bigots hate me because of I worship a goddess of nihilism, and I’m her favorite princess. Totally unwarranted prejudice. Couldn’t be my judgmental pretensions and emo bullshit as soon as they meet me.”

Grosssssss.
If you don’t have friends who would invite you to a community event, you don’t just invite yourself. If knowing more about that community is SO important to you, be a better ally and a better listener. You aren’t entitled to access for curiosity’s sake. Esp communities facing violence.

Maryland is just chock full of cool fossils, highly recommend.
We love Purse State Park because even though the big finds are rarer, you will absolutely find dozens of littler ones. On a good day over a hundred per person. I call it “dopa-mining”. Just a super fun thing to set the monkey brain on.

Biggest shark tooth yesterday was ~3 cm and skinny. But the biggest we found there were these monster Otodis (mine’s the white one on the right, my spouse’s is the dark one on the left). Those are our current reigning champions for local shark-toothin.

Oops, please forgive the error in the alt text of the second image. The measurement is 1.6 in. I misread the calipers. Got the metric measurement ok lol (4 cm).

They are excellent mammals and deserve all the attention. Thank you for doing your part for aardwolf appreciation.

Yep, free version is super solid, and I consistently read triple digits/year. It’s not as slick as GR, but it’s very usable, and I love the breakdowns!
If I’m giving recs for a genre it’s easy for me to pull up what I’ve read in it and offer my faves.

We will await the adorable updates. For science.

😻 I need a glamor shoot of these tiny spoods ASAP. If they don’t take the next Nikon Small World by storm, we riot. 🕷️ ✊

I’m sorry you’re having a rough time. All that you put into the world, from words to poyems, means a lot. Thank you.
Please enjoy this silly trashcat.

The world is on fire. I live in DC. It’s a lot right now. And one of the things that helps us get through some of this is having good books. Books that tell queer stories. Books that say bad gov’ts can be affected by their people.
Books you can come home to after whatever trash the day threw at you.

Also, if it ever feels like you’re shouting into the void: I picked this book up because of something you posted about the second one. So thank you for both writing good books AND telling people (it’s me, I’m people) about them.

A boring blessing: I hope this is the worst thing that happens all week to anyone reading this.

Yeah, nobody wants a turn on that ride.
RIP your eggs.
