Dentists prescribe ~10% of antibiotics in human healthcare but are rarely active in national #OneHealth #AMR action plans. They are important in preventing infections. Access to (urgent) dental care can prevent infections and reduce unnecessary antibiotic use.

An interesting list! The oral diseases-associated bacteria S. mutans and P. gingivalis feature in the top 25- such important microorganisms to study!

Some recent confocal microscopy of our mock oral #bacteria as they begin to form #biofilms! Each species is fluorescently stained before being mixed together.
