i'll borrow the book for dummies as it seems pretty thorough, but maybe not the encyclopaedia because it had a spelling mistake on the first page. the pictures are nice though. i'm just skimming through it and reading the sections that interest me

i'll never fit in with the rest of ishgard liking folks bc i stubbornly wanted to indulge myself with the name harrow which doesn't follow the convention so i'm worried ppl would just reject him based on immersion or whatever

i'm an aspiring immigrant to QC and also a souverainiste so it's admittedly a little disingenuous to have an ideal of ishgard that is both catholic coded and QC coded lol. the QC inspiration has always been more of a secondary, half in jest thing to me

i kind of don't like, and often forget, that ishgard becomes a republic. that feels like overcompensating on the writers part, like oh it was an absolute monarchy theocracy before, that's too evil, gotta make it a republic so the players know ishgard is Good Now

i read more about catholic orders last night on wikipedia. i'd love to find a book where i could learn everything about catholic hierarchy, formation, rituals, clothing, etc though.

reworked percy's face for that post since he used to have the same face and beard as harrow and i just wanted him to look older and more distinct. i also gave him the same hair as deimos, bc i'm a freak about deimos---
