Flicking through Smash Hits in the local newsagent whilst the man next to you was flicking through a porn mag like it was totally normal. Or sitting on the bus next to a man reading the red-tops and looking for too long the page 3 girl. Maybe this was slightly earlier than than the 90s.

That is horrific. When Quakers are well known for their pacifism, this is incredible. As someone brought up in the Quaker faith, I'm stunned.

No devices of any kind at the table. Ever. Actually, Granny is the worst culprit.

Here in Spain we have to fit in 3 hours of Spanish so we had to chop Design/Tech and RE (we try to squeeze this into PSHE and history) and we only get 1 hr of Pe.

I don't know how to share a profile yet but try @lsafeguarding I have just found them and it looks really useful. They are called Leeder Safeguarding. I'm a new DSL so happy to connect!

So glad I've found you. I'm new to the role of DSL at a British School in Spain so I'm looking forward to having a supportive "virtual" place to go for help and advice!

Totally agree. Projects always sound great in theory but behind many an amazing project is a parent who has pulled out all the stops.

I teach Y5 in Spain and here there is very much an expectation from parents that homewirk is given. Reading is not considered homework, sadly. Interestingly many parents dont bother about making their kids read but insist on sheets and sheets of homework. Feel like I'm fighting a losing battle.

Absolutely. Many times the kids who fly in class produce shockingly bad homework because they can't be arsed and those who struggle in class produce amazing homework as the parenta have pretty much done it for them.

Good luck with your move to Y4. Last year I moved to Y5 after 7 years in Y6 and found the move hard. Year groups too close together so I had to keep reminding myself they were a year younger. But you've got bags of experience so I'm sure you'll relish the change!!!
