I own way too many clicky keyboards. I love relaxing in hammock chairs and I have deeply obscure Simpsons references for every situation.

@caseyliss as the most visible CalDigit dock user I know and known owner of LG Ultrafine displays: I'm looking at a CalDigit TS5+ dock.

Its product page says it doesn't support dual LG Ultrafine 5K displays.

However, can it support dual displays where one display is an Ultrafine and the other […]

Ruby Central announced the next RubyConf in a YouTube video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_vkbRlYCJY0) but it just doesn't hit the same as their paragraphs of obfuscated PR-speak, so as a courtesy to the community I have provided a translation.

Now that it's pretty common for email providers to include their own unsubscribe buttons right from the web client, these providers should start tracking which senders flat out don't honor the unsubscribe links.

It's so common for email marketers to fail to honor this, or to use dark patterns […]

ProTip: Got an ant infestation somewhere in your home?

Quick ant poison recipe: Mix hot water with some sugar and Borax powder (I used about 3 parts water, 1 part sugar, 1 part borax). Mix until dissolved. Apply near where the ants are. They'll be gone in a day or two.

Borax can be dangerous […]

I was frantically trying to figure out a bug in a macOS game I made all evening after I noticed that sound effects wouldn’t play in my app.

Turns out this is a Tahoe bug.

In Tahoe, sounds just aren’t playing through SpriteKit, period.

This is a fantastic read and a good distillation of a lot of what was on my mind as I put together my Vibes Are Off In Tech talk at XO Ruby Austin. https://hachyderm.io/@phillmv/115520550071842547

It would have been cool if he was like “I want this comp package so that if I get it, I can feed and house every single person in the world who needs it”

But no, he wants to build a robot army or some shit.

The billionaire class is such a fucking waste of wealth […]

@marcoroth absolutely loved your talk today at XO. These improvements in tooling around Rails views are awesome.

On my way to Austin to speak at @xoruby tomorrow afternoon!

I feel surprisingly good about this talk given how quickly I’ve had to put it together.

If you’re not in Austin the talk will be recorded.

If you'd like to dabble in using an LLM agent to pair on code with, but you don't like the idea of being saddled with a specific editor, check out https://opencode.ai.

It's really nice! It runs in the terminal and it's BYO model. It coexists peacefully with your editor.

I can't speak for events that haven't happened yet or for every city but based on my own experience and everything I saw earlier this year, the #nokings protests are a really accessible entry into protesting.

It's a really fun crowd, felt super safe, and there was safety in numbers.

It feels unintuitive, but Ruby Central needs more people giving them money.

It should have hundreds of small sponsors, both individuals and businesses, and together we should work to reshape the org, adopting a more democratic governance structure and adding board members that better represent […]
